The Coming Global Burden of Parkinson Disease
Today approximately 1.5 million adults in the United States contend with Parkinson’s on a daily basis. Another four million people in the United States are diagnosed with other Movement Disorders that are complicated and potentially debilitating. Parkinson Disease and movement disorders are serious challenges that affect a person’s performance and relationships at work and at home, yet many do not receive the proper medical care they require.
“The number of Parkinson’s cases is expected to double by the year 2030.” — Neurology 2007
As a community, there is much we can do to improve the quality of life for those who carry the burden of illness. We should not turn away simply because financial and social barriers appear insurmountable.

“… untreated neuro illnesses often intensify and become more complex over time.”
Education and health professionals agree that increased awareness of neuro disorders, early identification, continuous treatment and application of additional social, informational and physical and psycho therapies can greatly improve our quality and length of life. It is clear that people must receive the help they need before they watch hope for comfort and happiness diminish.
“People must receive the help they need before they watch hope for comfort and happiness diminish or face life-threatening situations.”

Patient & Family Advocate Program
Your generous gifts will allow us to be the first Parkinson Comprehensive Care Center in the region to offer the services of a Patient & Family Advocate to all clients without charge. Our Patient & Family Advocates will meet with Care Center clients and their family, caregiver, or other caring individuals to discuss personal needs and concerns from diagnosis onward. Designed in response to all patients’ key requirement for information and compassion during this life journey, the NeuroAdvocate Program is only a phone call away from the day of diagnosis, onward, to lend a helping hand in all matters related to quality of life and the management of illness.
The Patient & Family Advocate Program can help with questions like, “What kind of quality of life can I expect in the future? How do I manage at home? How can I get to my appointments? How can I get more information about my illness? How can I get help in paying for my prescription drugs? What kinds of support are available in our community? How can I find my way around from appointment to appointment?”
We’ll establish a personal relationship with you and help you navigate the often complicated roads surrounding your healthcare options. By keeping a copy of our Patient Advocate’s phone number in your wallet or purse, you’ll discover that help is just a phone call away.
We are actively searching for Patient & Family Advocate Program sponsors, community grants and individual donors to fund this much needed program. This is a Named Donor Opportunity.
Call us at (888) 623-4483 (888-NCF-GIVE) to learn more.

Neuro Challenge Certified Referrals
We’d want to produce a web-based and printed catalog of local community and healthcare services specifically designed for Parkinson Wellness. With more than twenty years of experience in local and national healthcare delivery, you can bet we’ve got a list of companies, products and services that we know well, we know work and we can confidently recommend.
When it comes to products, we carry no inventory unless it’s a small amount of donated items or t-shirts for sale. Instead, we work with specially selected partners to provide products that meet our requirements for excellence in usability and value. We include important things, like home health aides, a special lift chair or scooter or maybe even a book you’ve been searching for. And some fun stuff, too. We’ll review every vendor before they appear in our referral catalog based on our years of academic and hands on neurological and community experience. We take the reviews and opinions of our patients and caregivers very seriously too.
Sellers in our marketplace are invited to donate a portion of the sales price to Neuro Challenge but this in no way determines who we place on the Neuro Challenge Certified Referral List.
Our Referral Catalog is waiting for the right donor(s) to adopt it! If you would like to make a financial contribution to this effort, please contact us at donations@neurochallenge.org or call (888) NCF-GIVE or (888-623-4483).
Every purchase you make helps us improve the lives of people living with Parkinson Disease. We hope to offer the Referral Catalog free to everyone.
